Proposed for Ireland Agriculture 2020-2030
Our soil is almost dead. Our farming methods have polluted and diseased the land and the waters. It’s unsustainable. Phase out the abuse of livestock and intensive farming methods that are destroying nature.
Only 1% of Irish agricultural land is used for growing vegetables. Ireland to be the biggest producer of organic vegetables in Europe. This is the focus and obvious transition for the future. Healthy food enhances the health of the nation. Us all getting back in touch with the land.
Growing vegetables and properly reforesting our Island. Hemp is a multi-purpose crop. Farms shifting towards growing produce like hemp that creates a better environment and offsets carbon.
Hemp to be grown in a way that is sustainable and rejuvenates the soil. Bamboo is another multi-purpose plant with many uses.
Most agrochemicals immediately banned. Agrochemical companies for the large part become obsolete. Growing Genetically Modified food becomes illegal.
The overfishing and depletion of marine life to stop.
Animals fed on the food that is most natural to them. Farmers are supported and educated into methods of organic, permaculture and biodynamic techniques.
